About Carl D Jones

Four Letter Studio is Carl D Jones – a Welsh, Shropshire-based artist specialising in original doodle art and abstract ink illustration, with lettering and words. With over 30 years of experience in graphic design, Carl brings structure, creativity and instinctive mark-making together in every piece.

His work explores rhythm, repetition and spontaneity — often inspired by architecture, popular culture, books and music.

Every artwork is hand-drawn using fineliners, printmaking, letterpress and markers, making each piece completely unique. No prints. No reproductions. Just original abstract doodles created with intention and flow.

Collectors across the UK choose Carl's work for distinctive, affordable artwork that brings character to modern interiors.

A native of North Wales – and based in Shropshire since 2004 – he did an Art Foundation at NEWI in Wrexham, followed by a BA (Hons) Degree in Graphic Design at the University of Central Lancashire (Preston Polytechnic). Carl then moved to London and spent around 12 years at a number of renowned design and branding agencies.

Since 2003, he's has been the joint Creative Director of Branded by Jones (Carl Jones Design Ltd), the branding and communication agency co-founded with his wife and business partner Clare.
